On Saturday, the Chamber of Commerce hosted the Dogwood Car Show on the Cassville square. There was a total of 106 vehicles that took part in festivities. Chamber of Commerce Director Mindi Artherton said, “We thought the car show was a great success. The weather was beautiful, which is key when planning an outdoor event.” The chamber committee has been planning this event for the past couple of months and were very pleased with the outcome.
Artherton added, “Everyone seemed to have a good time, and it brought several visitors to Cassville.” The biggest goal for the chamber is to bring new people into the community, and the car show is a great way to do that. “We love seeing our downtown bustling with activity. We hope that the show brings locals and out of town guest alike to Cassville to enjoy all our community has to offer,” said Artherton.
The judging process of the car show is very detailed. Four car enthusiasts volunteer to judge the event, along with two scribes who help speed up the process. Each entry is eligible to earn a maximum of 25 points in each category. The categories include paint and body, wheels, lamps, bright works, interior, trunk, engine compartments and pick-up beds. Each entry can earn bonus points for having a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit added to the vehicle. Bonus points are also given based on the model year of the vehicle.
