With summer in its last days and the cold weather barrelling toward Barry County, the time to hunker down and keep yourself busy in the house is upon us all. To warmly bring in the fall and winter months, The Gathering Place in Purdy will host its 5th Annual Purdy Craft and Vendor Show.
The event will take place at The Gathering Place in Purdy, located at 100 Old Business Highway 37 and Highway C. On September 7, doors will open at 9 a.m. and the event will run until 3 p.m. Admission to the show is free, as is parking, and vendors and other attractions will be offering goods for sale.
The Purdy Craft and Vendor Show will feature over 60 booths of activities and goods, ranging from handmade crafts, to a plethora of t-shirt vendors. According to host and Gathering Place co-owner, Julie Terry, there will also be a variety of holiday and fall-themed items.
“We’ve got everything,” said Terry. “Food trucks, baked goods, handmade crafts, jewelry, direct distributors. All sorts.”
This will be the first year the festival will include food trucks. Several food trucks from throughout the area already signed on for the event, including Prime Cut, Redneck Gourmet Delights, and Nandy’s Egg Rolls and Lemonade. Adelita’s Mexican restaurant will also be present at the festival with their own booth set up near the food trucks.
According to Terry, there will also be an exciting new event sure to appeal to families.
“I have a photographer coming, and she’s going to be doing mini-photo shoots there,” said Terry.
Photo shoots will be available from Bailey Lee. Prices are one photo for $10, two photos for $20 or six photos for $35.
The Purdy chapter of Future Farmers of America will also be there selling mums.
Terry said hosting the festival is a means to inspire togetherness in the community before the holidays begin.
“By the time it’s all said and done, I make nothing,” said Terry. “It’s not a money making thing. It’s a feel-good, fun experience for the community. It’s to draw people out on a hopefully beautiful day to have a good time and start getting in the holiday and fall spirit.”
The 5th Annual Purdy Craft and Vendor Show is Saturday, September 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information on the festival or how to get involved, contact Julie Terry at (417) 236-4139.
