7th annual Eagle Rock Car Show and Craft Fair coming Sept. 22

September 19, 2018
Prix Gautney

The Eagle Rock Community Center is hosting its 7th Annual Eagle Rock Car Show on Saturday, September 22, 2018. This event is free to the public and will be held at Community Center grounds on Highway 86, south of F Highway in Eagle Rock.
The car show has 18 car classes and specialty classes plus a motorcycle class. On-site registration for the car show is 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., with judging from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and awards at 2 p.m. Registration is $20, and goodie bags will be given to the first 100 entrants. The craft fair will be set up in the barn, with the fee for a table set at $20.
Food vendors will be on the grounds throughout the day, and a live DJ is slated to provide musical entertainment. Pets on leashes are always welcome, and there is ample parking, with handicap parking available. Event volunteers will be on hand to sell t-shirts commemorating the car show as well as 50/50 raffle tickets. All proceeds go to support the activities the ERCA provides for the community.
Each year, the ERCA strives to make this event family friendly. “We wanted to do something to draw the community together for a fun activity,” reported event volunteer, Jennifer Cochran, wife of Community Center Vice President, Bryndon Cochran. “My personal favorite memory is sticking my husband on the roof of the barn to get all the great pictures of the cars. One year we had so many cars we couldn’t get them all in one picture. It’s always a great memory when you can smile just thinking about the good times and the happy people.”
Plans for the car show begin a year in advance and in the past the event has been partnered with the Eagle Rock Library’s Howl-O-Ween Fest, but this year the car show is being held a month early. According to the ERCA board, they thought they might be tempting fate with the weather if they continued to hold the car show so late in the year. Although the event will be held rain or shine, volunteers are hoping early fall weather will encourage residents of Eagle Rock and members of the surrounding communities to attend.
