The 84th annual Cassville Rotary Rodeo will be held October 11-12, at Bill Hailey Arena, in Cassville. The rodeo was originally scheduled in May of this year but was delayed due to the destructive Memorial Weekend storms.
The Cassville Rotary Rodeo has been a staple in Barry County for the past 84 years, with profits from the rodeo benefiting Cassville Rotary and FFA scholarships, as well as learning opportunities for Interact and FFA members through exploratory field trips and seminars.
“Rotary and Booster members have worked diligently to bring you a great event,” said Jennifer Privett, Cassville FFA Booster Club President. “We are looking to bring the excitement to Cassville. Again this year, we will be hosting our annual Rodeo Queen Contest, as well as bringing back some town charm with the Rodeo Parade down Main Street.”
The Rodeo Parade, which has not happened in Cassville for 20+ years, will begin at 5 p.m. Line up will start at 4:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center. Any community member, club, organization, sponsor, or business is encouraged to participate in the parade. No registration is required for participation in the parade. The parade will travel the length of Main Street, to Bill Hailey Arena.
“I remember the rodeo parade when I was a kid,” said Todd Mitchell. “I think it is great we are bringing back these traditions for our kids to witness.”
This year’s rodeo events include Saddle Bronc, Bareback, Bull Riding, Steer Wresting, Barrell Racing, Calf Roping, Break Away Roping, Over 40 Calf Roping, as well as Mutton Busting and a Kids Dance Contest.
This year’s contestants in the Rodeo Royalty competition are Jaycee Lile for Rodeo Queen; Camille Tucker and Blakely Johnson for Junior Queen; and Emma Privett and Harper Whitley for Princess.
Pre-sale tickets can be purchased from Rodeo Royalty contestants or at the gate. Cost for tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for ages 6-15, and age 5 and under are free.
Gates open at 5 p.m. and the show will begin at 7 p.m. both nights.
