The Barry County Health Department and Office of Emergency Management are saddened to announce that a 79-year-old male patient and a 69-year-old man have died of COVID related complications, although the final cause of death has not been received from the State of Missouri.
Both men are known to have had underlying health issues. They are our fifth and sixth COVID-19-associated deaths in Barry County.
Health Department and Emergency Management officials wish to offer their sincerest condolences to the family and friends on their loss.
Additionally, the Barry County Health Department is notifying the public of the following potential places of exposure from a COVID-19-positive individual:
• 09/05: Sunrise Family Restaurant in Cassville, 9 a.m.
• 09/06: Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church in Purdy, during morning services
• 09/07: Geraldi’s Restaurant in Cassville, 6 - 7 p.m.
People visiting these locations on these dates, who did not have close contact, are at low risk of contracting
COVID-19, but should monitor for symptoms. COVID-19 can appear 2 to 14 days after exposure and include
fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, fever, muscle or body aches, headache, sore throat,
congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, or a new loss of taste or smell. If you believe, you
have symptoms of COVID-19 stay home call your medical provider, and wear a mask when near anyone who
does not live in the same home.
Barry County Health Department Administrator Roger Brock reminds residents that everyone is at risk of
catching and spreading COVID-19.
“We’ve had over 450 cases, 200 new cases in the past month, and six people die," Brock said.
It is imperative that everyone continue protect themselves and each other by maintaining
physical-distancing, wearing a face-covering, washing hands often, and staying home if they are sick.
All people of all ages are at risk of infection with COVID-19, but older persons and those with underlying
health issues are at the greatest risk of serious illness and death.
Barry County Health Department Administrator Roger Brock and Emergency Management Director David
Compton remind us that fall events are underway and we must take all precautions to remain safe. Most
festivals and community events have implemented requirements for vendors and recommendations for
participants to ensure the safety and success of these events. They remind service providers who cannot
practice physical-distancing that they are required to remain masked while providing any type of service.
Barry County Phase 2 Mitigation Rules began June 26 and remain in effect until September 30, 2020. Those
rules include required source-control masking of service providers; recommended physical distancing, cloth
face coverings, and enhanced hygiene practices. For more information about COVID-19, visit

hotline number at 877-435-8411.
