All Faith UMC welcomes new pastor George Whitney

July 25, 2018
All Faith UMC is welcoming Reverend George Whitney as their new pastor this month. Pastor George and his wife, June, have six grown children, 19 grandchildren and a growing number of great-grandchildren. He is coming to All Faith from Hot Springs Village, Ark., where he pastored the New Salem United Methodist Church for four years. He is making the move to be closer to his youngest daughter and grandchildren in Monett.
Pastor George grew up in the Sandhills of rural Nebraska, graduated from Ainsworth High School and the University of Nebraska at Kearney. He taught high school and coached in Randolph, Neb., for eight years and then worked in the field of employee benefits for nearly 25 years which took him to St. Louis.
Pastor George entered ministry in 1997, attending Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis while serving Elsberry UMC in rural Missouri. He was ordained a Deacon in 1999 while in seminary and graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in 2001. He served Union UMC in rural Missouri, and then Bellefontaine UMC in St. Louis. He was ordained an Elder in 2003. Pastor George retired from full-time ministry in April of 2008 and moved to Hot Springs Village where he served Manchester UMC for five years and then New Salem UMC for four years.
Pastor George is looking forward to enjoying his grandchildren’s sports and activities more often, and he has a passion for golf which his father began teaching to him at the age of 10. He is pleased to have shot his age or below several times in the last few years. The church looks forward to having Pastor George at All Faith for a long while.
