Alleged burglary leads to assault near Purdy

Two women were arrested Monday night after they allegedly broke into a garage near Purdy.
According to statements of probable cause used in filing charges against them, Tessie Cox and Jessica Garner went to a residence on Farm Road 2100 on Monday, March 19, and kicked in the door to the victim’s garage. Cox and Garner were allegedly stealing a kayak and paddles from the garage when they were interrupted by the victim.
Garner allegedly stabbed the victim in the shoulder with a small knife when the victim attempted to stop Garner and Cox from taking the items.
The victim reportedly told Barry County Sheriff’s Deputies that they did not give Cox or Garner permission to be on the property or to take any items.
Cox and Garner were both booked into the Barry County Jail on Monday, March 19, at 8:55 p.m. Tessie A. Cox is charged with burglary in the second degree, a Class D felony, and misdemeanor stealing. She is held in lieu of $20,000 cash or surety bond.
Jessica J. Garner is held in lieu of $100,000 cash or surety bond. She is charged with misdemeanor stealing. In addition, she faces charges of felony armed criminal action, second degree assault and the Class A felony of robbery in the first degree.
