American Legion Post 118 to expand local vet services
August 27, 2014
Disabled veterans and other veterans needing a ride to their VA Hospital now have a free means of making their appointments thanks to the American Legion Post 118 in Cassville. The Post has teamed up with Disabled American Veterans Chapter 68 in Branson and, starting on Oct. 1, veterans in the Cassville and Monett area will be able to schedule a ride through the DAV Branson Transportation Office and depart from and return to the Cassville area.
All veterans need to do to schedule their rides through the Branson office is calling (417) 243-2326. Please schedule your VA appointments to start between 90 a.m. and 12 p.m. for the VA Clinics in Branson and Mt. Vernon, in Missouri, or the VA Clinic in Jay, Okla. The same hours apply to the Fayetteville VA Hospital. Little Rock VA Hospital runs require appointments to be scheduled between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. The van is available Monday through Thursday, but please schedule at least 72 hours in advance to allow us to get a volunteer driver on board.
American Legion Post 118 already has five volunteer drivers approved by the VA. If you would like to volunteer to drive, please call the number listed above. Volunteers do not need to be veterans. This new service by American Legion Post 118 for our local veterans is a much-needed service to those who gave so much to our country.
