It’s time to bring Cassville’s Main Strip to life for the second annual Memories Cruise on Saturday night.
Last year, the inaugural event spearheaded by Jason Blankenship brought hundreds of vehicles, young and old alike to downtown Cassville, raising $2,200 for the Cassville Schools Backpack program.
This year’s event will be held Saturday, June 8, beginning at 7 p.m. Jason is using the money raised during the event for the J.T. Blankenship Scholarship Fund, in honor of his father, who was a barber in Cassville for 63 years.
“Technical or vocational schools are the hardest to receive financial aid,” Jason said. “These are the students that need the help the most. One hundred percent of the funds raised during the event will support the scholarship fund. I want to help the next generation of Barbers, Welders, Mechanics, and other trades with a better future. Students who attend Cassville, Southwest, Exeter, Purdy or Wheaton Schools and plan to attend a technical or vocational school will qualify for the scholarship.”
Jason will be set up on the corner of Main and Hwy. 112 on the empty lot across from Arvest Bank accepting donations during the event. Look for the Memories Cruise banner and tent. Those who donate will receive a Memories Cruise 2024 sticker, which is sponsored by Couch Excavating, while supplies last.
Other local businesses will be participating during the event. Fastrip will bring back its $1.99 Wildcat Sandwich, Freedom Bank of Southern Missouri will be handing out water and koozies, and The Rib Steakhouse is rolling back prices to 1995 and offering a steak dinner, baked potato and one trip salad bar for $14.95. Peace Eatery,Wildcat Ice Cream, Crissy’s Sip N Sweets and the Cassville Lemonade Company will also be set up at the donation site.
“This event is open to everyone, not just Cassville residents,” Jason added.
If you are not able to attend, but still want to donate to the J.T. Blankenship Scholarship Fund, a Venmo account has been set up: @cassvillememoriescruise.
