April Food Pantry distribution to include fresh food items
April 17, 2019
Currently available USDA resources have markedly increased the volume of the Cassville Food Pantry's monthly distribution products. During April 2019, food given away will include multiple options of bakery, frozen meat, fresh milk and fresh produce. The distribution supplier of USDA products, the Ozarks Food Harvest Food Bank in Springfield, will deliver several pallets of extra bonus perishable fresh food resources in the morning of April 23 which will be given away on at the pantry's 6th and Townsend Street parking lot in the afternoon. These products are offered from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. to eligible low-income households in addition to the standard base of dry good products which are also distributed from inside the church at the same time.
Free Food Boxes will be distributed on Tuesday April 23, from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. through the USDA Commodities Food Box Distribution at the Cassville United Methodist Church at 601 Gravel Street on the back side of the church on 6th and Townsend Street in Cassville.
Families should bring proof of address for all of the household members. For authorization of children in the home, provide a document which displays your child’s name.
Due to the large volume of items being distributed, the pantry is also seeking more volunteers to help with our sorting of products, assembly line and distribution effort on Tuesday, April 23. Volunteer hours consist of two segments: 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. or from 3 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. on April 23. You are not required to lift heavy boxes in order to volunteer.
If you would like more information about volunteer opportunities, call Janet Mills, Food Pantry Director at Cassville United Methodist Church, at (417) 847-2328 or stop by the church office any weekday business hours and visit with Janet in person.
The Cassville Food Pantry is an equal opportunity provider.
