ATV driver lifeflighted after crash near Wheaton

An ATV crash southeast of Wheaton resulted in a lifeflight for the driver on Monday night. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, the ATV overturned, resulting in serious injuries for the driver.
Curtis W. Tipton, 43, of Seligman, was driving a 2016 Juajue ATV southbound on Highway 76 about three miles southeast of Wheaton when the crash occurred. The ATV went off the left side of the roadway and overturned around 10:45 p.m. on Monday, August 5.
Tipton suffered serious injuries and was transported by air ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Joplin for treatment.
The driver was not wearing a safety device at the time of the crash.
The ATV sustained moderate damage and was removed from the scene by Wilson's Towing, of Washburn.
