September 19, 2018
On September 6, a few 4-H members and Clover Kids from the Screeching Eagles 4-H Club shared their stories, projects and fair achievements at the University of Missouri Extension Council Picnic. Projects and ribbons were displayed for those in attendance to view. Ada Bluel, Alexis Luebbering, Kaylee Leubbering and Jayson Peterson gave presentations to the council discussing their experiences at the State Fair in Sedalia, current officer positions in their local club, and livestock achievements at the local fairs and festivals.
Barry County 4-H was well represented at the fairs this summer beginning at the Purdy Festival with 54 4-H exhibits. Of those exhibits, 49 received blue ribbons and moved on to the Ozark Empire Fair.
Twenty-seven blue ribbons were awarded at the Ozark Empire Fair. Katie Tucker received the Reserve Grand Champion Ribbon for her calf halter project and Grand Champion for her dairy cow poster. Ally Ruiz also received a Reserve Grand Champion Ribbon for her painting. Both Katie and Ally are members of the Horner Ridge Runners 4-H Club. Those exhibits were then displayed at the State Fair in Sedalia.
Enrollment begins October 1 for those interested in joining 4-H. Contact the University of Missouri Extension in Barry County at (417) 847-3161 for more information on getting involved as a member, family or volunteer.
