The Barry County Health Department reports 14 new cases of COVID-19 for a total 101 cases in Barry County.
Three people remain hospitalized with COVID-19 related complications. As a part of our ongoing disease
investigations, locations recently visited by COVID-19 positive persons were identified. All individuals who
have tested positive or who have had close contact with a positive case are in isolation or quarantine and are
monitored daily by Health Department staff.
The Barry County Health Department is notifying the public of these potential exposures from a COVID-19
positive individual.
A recent positive case visited:
• 07/01 - Lowe’s in Monett, from 6:00 to 6:30 a.m.
• 07/01 - Sutherland's in Aurora, from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m.
• 07/01 - Lowe’s in Monett from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m.
People visiting these locations on these dates, who did not have close contact, are at low risk of contracting
COVID-19, but should monitor for symptoms. COVID-19 can appear 2 to 14 days after exposure and include
fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, fever, muscle or body aches, headache, sore throat,
congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, or a new loss of taste or smell. If you believe you
have symptoms of COVID-19, stay home, call your medical provider, and wear a mask when near anyone who
does not live in the same home.
Barry County Health Department Administrator, Roger Brock, reminds citizens, “COVID-19 is in our communities,
all of them; every corner of Barry County is experiencing cases of COVID-19. We are now seeing an increase in
the number of persons under 40 who are contracting this virus, likely due to increased summertime activities,
decreased physical distancing, and a lack of face-coverings. It is imperative that everyone practice physical
distancing, wear face covers when in public, and diligently wash hands and clean surfaces.”
Barry County Phase 2 Mitigation Rules began June 26 and remains in effect until July 15, 2020. Those rules
include required source control masking of service providers; recommend physical distancing, cloth face-coverings, and enhanced hygiene practices. For more information about COVID-19, visit cdc.gov/coronavirus,
call the Barry County Health Department at 417-847-2114 or the Missouri DHSS 24 hour hotline number at
877-435-8411.
