East Newton Relays
At the East Newton Invitational on Thursday, the Cassville Lady Wildcats took first place in the team standings, scoring 170 points. The Cassville boys finished second with 112 points, trailing only East Newton’s 163.
Cassville results
The Lady Wildcats won 10 events in a dominant performance. Jordyn Stafford lit up the track with a stellar 12:17.2 performance in the 3200 meter run, breaking her own personal record.
Stafford also won the girls 1600 with a time of 5:37.9.
Parker Marple and Kyren Postlewait also won a pair of gold medals. Marple bested the field in the 400 and 200 meter events, and Postlewait won the 100 and the shot.

Southwest results
A senior and a pair of distance runners highlighted Southwest’s night at East Newton. Brylee Wilson won the girls 800 meter run with a strong 2:42.4 effort. Travis Sickles ran a PR for third in the boys 1600, clocking 5:01.9. Trevor Sneed placed second in the 400 meter dash in 56.1 and third in the 200 in 24.8.
Wheaton results
The Wheaton boys scored 16 points, paced by Marek Smith’s third place finish in the 3200, with a time of 11:03.7.
Nixa Invitational
Along with the weather, the competition was hot at the annual Nixa Invitational Track and Field meet on Tuesday, April 10. The Monett Cubs earned medals in ten events and the Cassville Wildcats grabbed four in a tough midseason tuneup meet.
Monett results
Monett thinclads won three gold medals. Eduardo Trujillo Morales won the boys 300 meter hurdles in 41.88. Kelsey Dalton blazed a 12.73 to win the girls 100 meter sprint, and Keisha George had the longest throw in the javelin with her 132-10 effort.
Dalton also placed third in the girls 200 with her 26.57. Randi Prock finished third in the girls discus, throwing 105-11, and George clipped a 1:02.68 for fourth in the girls 400 meter race.
The Monett girls placed third in the 4x200 meter relay, clocking 1:50.44.
Jamie Gunn finished second in the boys 100 meter dash with an impressive 11.52. Luke Allcock also claimed a silver medal, clearing 13-0 in the boys pole vault. Chet Butterworth finished third in the boys javelin with his throw of 129-8.
Cassville results
Jordyn Stafford led Cassville with a pair of bronze medals. Her 12:24.08 in the 3200 meter run was a personal best, one that she would better at East Newton. That came after she placed third in the girls 1600 with a time of 5:41.54.
Kyren Postlewait placed third in the girls shot with a heave of 36-6.75.
Garrett Kritz finished second in the boys shot, throwing 42-10.75.
Pierce City Invitational
Brylee Wilson won the girls 800 meter run, and John Scannell earned three medals on the boys side to lead Southwest at Pierce City on Tuesday, April 9.
Wilson, the sophomore transfer from Cassville, posted a 2:38.37 to win gold in the 800, and also placed fourth in the 1600 in 6:34.
Scannell placed second in the long jump with a leap of 19-3.5, third in the triple jump with a 38-7.75, and third in the high hurdles in 17.47
Trevor Sneed, a senior who missed all of last season after suffering a gruesome injury at the opening meet in McDonald County, took third in the 400 with a 55.31 effort. Travis Sickles claimed the bronze medal in the 800 meter run, running 2:13.34.
Southwest’s boys placed second in the 4x800 meter relay in 9:16.69.
Rachel Lacey, of Wheaton, placed third in the girls 100 in 12.9 and third in the 200 in 27.5.
Purdy’s girls scored 27 points at Pierce City and collected medals in three events. The Lady Eagles placed second in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:41.94, and third in the 4x200 meter relay in 1:58.81. Makenna Orwig took third in the 400 meter dash in 1:10.47.
