On April 28, Madison (Maddie) Bowyer signed for her dream.
For 15 seasons, Maddie has fallen more and more in love with the game of soccer. Starting with Cassville YMCA and ending on the Cassville High School Girls Soccer Team, she has worked tirelessly on her craft.
In high school, Maddie decided she wanted to go on and continue to play in college. Bowyer, along with coach Jake Forste, began the process of getting her film to college coaches.
Finally, Maddie made her choice: St.Charles Community College in Cottleville, Missouri. In the fall, Bowyer will attend the college, where she plans to study Physical Therapy. She wants to continue both her athletic and academic careers.
When asked what piece of advice she would give her teammates, Bowyer replied, “Just continue to grind. It gets tough, but it is all worth it in the end.”
Maddie, herself, truly lives out this statement. This season has not gone as planned for the young athlete. Bowyer began the season in a promising position: truly being seen as a threat-in her starting forward role. However, on April 5, Bowyer took a wrong step and fractured her left leg.
“The moment was terrifying. I have never heard anyone wail like that. And to see Maddie, as tough as she is, in that much pain, we knew it had to be bad,” said Maddie’s teammates.
Even in the face of this adversity, Maddie has battled through, listening to her doctors and taking precautions to keep her dream alive.
Bowyer would like to thank her teammates, past and present, coaches, and parents for always supporting her and having her back.
