Based on Statements of Probable Cause filed by Michael J. Larery with the Ozark Drug Enforcement Team (ODET), warrants were issued for the arrest of Christopher Lee Youngblood (37) and Terrie L. Dunbar Tunis (48), of Butterfield, for the alleged possession and intended distribution of fentanyl, and methamphetamine, and possession of marijuana.
On October 6, members of the Ozarks Drug Enforcement Team, with the assistance of Barry County deputies, served a search warrant at a property on West 5th in Butterfield, where, according to the probable cause statements, Dunbar Tunis and Youngblood were arrested in a small outbuilding that had been converted into living quarters.
According to a press release from ODET, detectives seized approximately 400 capsules of suspected fentanyl, 15 grams of suspected methamphetamine and 570 grams of marijuana at the residence.
According to Probable Cause statements, Youngblood denied living at the residence, and denied knowledge of the presence of illegal drugs. However, a search revealed a wallet with his name in it, as well as the alleged presence of what appeared to be - and tested positive for - illegal substances.
In a subsequent interview, according to the probable cause statements, Dunbar Tunis allegedly admitted to detectives that she had acquired the fentanyl in the St. Louis area, then transported it back to Barry County, where she supplied it to Youngblood in September for him to resell. Dunbar allegedly also sold it herself to numerous people for profit.
According to warrants filed in Barry County Circuit Court, both Youngblood and Dunbar Tunis are prior drug offenders. They are charged with Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Dunbar Tunis is currently being held in the Barry County Jail on a $150,000 cash-only bond.
Youngblood is held on a $75,000 bond.
Bond hearings are scheduled for each of them in Barry County Circuit Court on October 14.
Commander Chad Allison, with the Ozark Drug Enforcement Team, says there has been an increase in overdose cases in the area.
“We are hoping (these arrests) will slow down the trend,” he said.
If the public has any drug tips or information, Allison asks that they can contact ODET at 417-624-9365.
