Cassville band director resigns, school searches for replacement
August 31, 2016
After six years with Cassville Schools, Scott Frederickson, band director, tendered his resignation on the first day of school. Frederickson, who had been teaching in collaboration with teacher Erica Gorman, will be replaced by the next school board meeting, according to Cassville High School principal Jeff Swadley.
Swadley said Gorman is currently serving as the interim band director until the hiring process is complete. Swadley said, “We’re in the process of trying to fill his position. We’ve had the job posted since his letter of resignation was submitted.”
Frederickson had been with Cassville Schools since 2010.
Cassville Superintendent Dr. Richard Asbill said, “Scott came here with a real fire for marching band, concert and jazz band events. The program grew each year as he took over and implemented his vision and goals for the program.”
While Frederickson made many advances in the music department, Asbill said, “I think that one of the biggest accomplishments that Scott provided for the Cassville R-IV was creating that love and expectation that our instrumental music program would be exceptional in all areas of performance.
“Erica has only been with us a few years. She is working hard ot develop and continue our instrumental band goals and expectations. While she is the assistant band director and middle school band teacher, she has done a very good job in helping the District transition through Scott’s departure.”
