Cassville FFA holds annual chapter banquet, presents awards

The Cassville FFA held its annual chapter banquet Sunday, May 5. The banquet was a time to reflect on the past year and install the future officers of the Casville FFA. Awards earned were:

Greenhand Degrees
A total of 44 first-year members met the minimum requirements to receive their Greenhand Degree. Landry Mills and Dalton Anderson were awarded the Star Greenhand Award for their outstanding participation in the year’s activities.

Chapter FFA Degrees
Twenty-two members qualified to receive their Chapter FFA Degrees. The Star Chapter Farmer award was presented to Lindee Mitchell. Star Chapter Placement was awarded to Roper Stone and the Star Agribusiness was awarded to Nathan Dick.

Area FFA Degree

The following members were recognized for receiving their Area FFA Degrees: Lindee Mitchell, Angelina Liggett, Devin Ruark, Catie Edmondson, and Grady Stephenson.

State FFA Degree

Cassville FFA had five members receive their State FFA Degrees: Alexis Coursey, Cole Jackson, Kory Harvey, Nathan Dick and Trevor Morgan.

American FFA Degree

The following members received the highest degree a member can earn last October and were recognized for their hard work and achievements throughout their FFA Careers: Mattie Stephenson, Kyle Cheek, Jace Mason and Austin McClintock.

The Honorary Degree was earned by Tony Mitchell and Rocky Stone for their support, devotion and dedication to the Cassville FFA Chapter.

The DeKalb Accomplishment Outstanding Senior awards were earned by Andrew Littlefield and Cole Jackson.

Special awards handed out were the Student Coach Award to Kobe Blisard for his time and dedication to his teammates while preparing for the meats evaluation CDE. The Blue & Gold award was given to Juliette Okel and Seth Stockton.

Proficiency Awards were given to the following members for being successful in their Supervised Agricultural Experiences:

Cole Jackson - Beef Production Placement
Alexis Coursey - Ag Sales Placement
Andrew Littlefield - Dairy Production Placement
Lindee Mitchell - Outdoor Recreation

The banquet also celebrated those who participated in Career Development Events and Leadership Development Events. In the spring of 2019, Cassville had two state champion team: meats evaluation and food science and technology. Cole Jackson also was the state runner-up in job interview, and the livestock evaluation team placing sixth at state. The state champions will go on to compete at the national level in the upcoming fall season.

The Cassville FFA Chapter also announced that Lindee Mitchell is the Area 11 sentinel for the 2019-2020 year.

The new Cassville FFA Chapter officer team for the 2019-2020 year will be: Lindee Mitchell, president; Grady Stephenson, vice president; Hailey Bowen, secretary; Lindsay Russell, treasurer; Riley Mills, reporter; Landry Mills, sentinel; and Angelina Liggett, historian.
