Cassville FFA member wins Hammons walnut collecting contest

The Cassville FFA Chapter won the second place award in the Hammons Walnut Collecting Contest. Cassville High School freshman Kayla Cheek and her family spent weeks collecting black walnuts on their family farm. Not thinking much of their labor, the Cheek family decided to enter the contest. They came out with not only a second place finish, but a prize of $1,500 for the Cassville FFA Chapter, with a total of 2,971 pounds of walnuts.
