On January 14, the Cassville Firefighters hosted their annual appreciation dinner. Each year, the Firefighters of the Cassville Fire Protection District gather alongside their families for an evening of food, fun, and gratitude. “It’s just a small token to recognize the sacrifices our volunteer firefighters make every year,” said Assistant Fire Chief Derek Acheson.
The firefighters “played games, had a delicious dinner, and showed our appreciation for one another,” according to the Cassville Fire Protection District’s Facebook post of the event. The evening’s game was of survival: teams of three competed to “save” citizens in distress. Due to the object of the game being to save lives, the winning team (pictured below) was awarded with gift baskets and a box of Lifesavers.
“We delivered food to those who were unable to attend,” said Acheson, “we took desserts and salad to 9-1-1 Emergency Services, who are vital to all our resources - so we try to include them as much as we can.” This Appreciation Dinner has been held for over fifteen years, and according to Acheson, stands as a beloved tradition.
