Cassville Food Pantry accepting donations

In light of the holiday season, the Cassville Food Pantry is collecting donations for local families.
“People are struggling, particularly those on fixed incomes,” began Cassville Food Pantry Director Janet Mills, overseer of the Bless Your Neighbor's Table project, “and a great number of who we serve are the elderly.” Every ten dollars donated earns one entry into a raffle to win a handmade quilt, as well as two prizes of premium kitchenware.
“Hard times are all around us,” Mills said. “Dollars are stretched thin and prices on everything have gone up, so families can buy less food. So, more and more people are coming to the pantry to put food on the table.”
According to Mills, demands on the Cassville Food Pantry’s resources have gone up by approximately 40 percent “and I don’t know if that’s going to end soon,” said Mills. “We’re hoping people can create new family traditions by giving to another family in need.”
Donations can be made online at www.cassvillepantry.com, or in person at 800 W. 10th Street. The winners of the raffle will be announced December 22. For more information, people may call 417-847-7871.
