Cassville’s class of 2022 graduated at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, 2022. The ceremony was filled with speeches from faculty as well as the valedictorian, Landry Parnell, and the salutatorian, Rachel Steinman. The graduation ceremony also held a presentation of cum laude honors to 50 students in the graduating class. Steinman’s speech highlighted change and how it has impacted her success as well as pushed her to do better.
“Cassville taught me many things, but the most valuable lesson I have learned was the importance of change,” stated Steinman. “The fear of change slowly crumbled and resilience rose from the ashes. The class of 2022 is many things, but one thing is for sure, we are resilient. For worries of World War III several different times, a global pandemic with new variants every few months, and a high school experience anything but ordinary. We grew a great sense of resilience and that will get us one step closer to success everyday.”
The valedictorian, Landry Parnell’s speech followed, highlighting how much she loved high school and what she would give to be in Cassville schools again.
“Right now I’d give just about anything to walk through the doors of CHS one more time,” stated Parnell, talking about high school activities and looking back on her high school experience.
Parnell then discussed the future, “There is so much to look forward to, while we might not find another community just like Cassville, there is a special place out there in the world for each of us. Wherever you are going, you will find your niche and you will find your people. Cassville will still be here to welcome us home whenever we are here.” The graduation ceremony ended with confetti and colors in celebration.
