Cassville man charged with sex with child

A Cassville man was charged with having sexual intercourse with a victim under the age of 16 between 40 and 50 times over the last two years. Phillip Daniel Meshell, Jr., 39, of Cassville, is charged with statutory rape in the second degree, statutory sodomy in the second degree, endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree as a first offense with sexual contact and child molestation in the second degree.
According to the affidavits of probable cause, the victim was interviewed at the Child Advocacy Center on September 18 after an officer received reports that the Meshell had been having sexual intercourse with the child. It was reported that Meshell had engaged in sexual intercourse and other sexual acts with the child for two years.
Meshell was released on a $25,000 bond which was reduced from a $50,000 cash-only bond.
