Cassville man steals Jeep, robs uncle’s home

A Cassville man was arrested last week when he allegedly stole a Jeep and then burglarized a home in Cape Fair. Bryan Dwayne Davis, 28, of Cassville, is charged with burglary in the second degree, theft/stealing of any firearm, theft/stealing of $500 to $25,000, and tampering with a motor vehicle in the first degree.
On Wednesday, March 16, a black 2003 Jeep Liberty was reported stolen from an address on Schell Street in Cassville. One week later, another officer found the Jeep abandoned at the Concord Cemetery near Exeter. Davis admitted during a police interview that he had stolen the vehicle after taking a key from the previous owner of the Jeep.
The same day the Jeep was found in the cemetery, Davis also allegedly burglarized his uncle’s home on West State Highway 76 in Cape Fair. According to affidavits of probable cause, Davis stole nine firearms, food, ammunition, a crossbow, a Stihl chainsaw, turkey calls, traps and other items. Davis then secured the items at a home in Newton County.
Davis is a convicted felon and cannot legally possess any firearms. Davis also admitted to the burglary of his uncle’s house during a police interview.
Davis is being held in the Barry County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
