Cassville, Monett girls lead at track sectionals

One week after winning the first district track title in school history, the Cassville girls returned to the track at Waynesville for their Class 3 Sectionals. Jordyn Stafford led the Ladycats by qualifying for state in both her distance events. Stafford won the 3200 meter event in 12:33.56 and placed second in the 1600 in 5:45.63.
“It was very hot and windy,” Stafford reported later.
Kyren Postlewait was also a double qualifier placing second in the 100 meter dash in 12.51 and second in the shot with a throw of 38-04.5.
The Cassville girls 4x100 meter relay team of Hannah Hackler, Kyren Postlewait, Kennedy Parnell and Parker Marple took third in 52.15 to qualify for the state meet.
Freshman strongman Garrett Kritz was Cassville’s only boys qualifier. Kritz placed second in the shot with a throw of 47-04.25.
Monett girls qualify at West Plains
The Monett thinclads had a long road trip to West Plains for their Class 4 Sectional. Running in tough conditions against tough competition, a number of Lady Cubs made the cut for the state meet.
Kaesha George won Monett’s only gold medal by throwing the javelin 145-02.
Kelsey Dalton placed second in both sprint events, running the 100 in 12.78 and the 200 in 26.25.
The girls 4x100 meter relay team of Mary Martinez, Alyssa Williams, Ashley Kurima and Kelsey dalton also placed second, running 50.85.
The MSHSAA Class 3-4-5 Track and Field Championships will be held this weekend at Jefferson City.
