Community Partnership of the Ozarks in Springfield has been awarded a grant using excess TANF funds allocated to the state of Missouri to implement a program in twenty counties within Southwest Missouri called the First Birthday Project.
This project is for pregnant women and families who have newborn infants up to one year of age and need safe sleep resources like a pack ‘n play and/or boxinette, crib sheets, halo sleep sacks, pacifiers, as well as educational resources on safe sleep practices.
The grant funds home visitors to be able to travel to meet with these families either in their home or at an organization with whom they are already in relationship to give out these resources as well as a brief training on safe sleep practices.
Cassville R-IV Parents as Teachers (PAT) program is a recipient of this grant and has been able to provide PAT families with these essential supplies for safe sleeping.
