Over the coming years, the City of Cassville will be taking steps to construct a pedestrian/bike corridor between Mill Street and the City of Cassville’s Greenway Trail, including 61 feet of 10-foot wide sidewalk leading to a 240-foot pedestrian bridge spanning Flat Creek.
The city applied for and was approved to receive $500,000 of Transportation Enhancement Program Funds, which is going toward the project. The program funds are expected to cover 61% of the total cost to design and build the infrastructure, and the remaining funds will be the burden of the city. The process officially began Monday, December 12.
Steve Walensky, Cassville’s City Administrator, states his excitement. “I am thrilled that we’ve got some grant money coming, we’re very lucky to get the grant, and we’ll see where we go from there. Should be exciting!”
Construction is estimated to begin shortly after September 2024.
