Cassville RV Board calls special meeting

The Board of Education of Cassville RV Schools held a special meeting Tuesday, March 24,  for information purposes surrounding COVID-19 and the subsequent Wellness Break.

Plans were established for cleaning, sanitizing, summer projects, event postponements, and food service meal preparation, which remains an ongoing service.

Plans were discussed for each building's teachers to become involved in wellness checks on students, hopefully on a bi-weekly basis.

Part of the wellness calls will involve gathering information about the availability of home internet access and educational materials, as well as implementing high school instructional plans for core or credit-related courses.

Dr. Asbill presented information to the Board regarding current fiscal plans, including continuing monetary compensation to all employees, to be paid throughout the regular work term, which ends June 30.

According to Asbill, Governor Parson indicated the state education budget will be impacted significantly.

Local fiscal operational plans were presented, noting that the final quarter's expenditures will be reduced or limited. Summer maintenance projects have been moved forward to accommodate the schedules and availability of contractors and construction workers while staff and students are absent.

Questions regarding work terms for certified and classified employee groups were presented by the Board. Certified employees include teachers, counselors and administrators. Classified employees include bus drivers, aides, custodians, maintenance and food service personnel, office managers and nurses. Because each employee group has a work term defined by contract for certified, or by hours for classified, alternate work plans for all employee groups are being reviewed.

Certified staff will be assisting in making wellness checks on all students; plans for other employees are under review, with more information to be provided at a later date, when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
