Central Crossing Senior Center in need of volunteers

"Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections (maybe) once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in (unknown)." ...And it's so true. Indeed, we are blessed to live in such a beautiful, fine community. Only a tiny fraction of the people who would absolutely love to live in this part of the Ozarks are actually able to. Those of us who do, know that blessing firsthand.
A big part of the blessing of living in this community includes the Central Crossing Senior Center and what it stands for. Since its inception, Central Crossing Senior Center has positively touched the lives of thousands of seniors in the community. Functions such as home delivered meals; on-site delicious, nutritious, low-cost lunches; social activities, games, dancing, exercise programs for seniors; as well as Medicare counseling, just to name a few. Of course, these activities and services require staffing. Did you know nearly all the people you see making these activities and services possible are volunteers? Without such volunteers, CCSC simply could not exist!
The small cadre of volunteers at the Center are devoted people who love their community, but we need more. Won't you consider sharing a small amount of your time to help continue the Center's positive legacy? A few of the opportunities available to volunteers include delivering meals to the home-bound elderly (mileage reimbursment provided), helping to maintain the facility, greeting those coming for lunch, helping in the kitchen, helping with the Medicare counseling (free training provided), helping in the office, and calling shut-ins on Wellness Checks. There are many, many other opportunities as well and one or more are sure to be the perfect fit for you.
Call (417) 858-6952 or come on in and talk to Terri, our Senior Center Administrator, to see how and where you can help.
