Chamber announces Breakfast, Ballot Issues

March 7, 2018
Charlea Estes-Jones

The Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce announced the date of their upcoming Breakfast and Ballot Issues event to help educate chamber members about the candidates in the upcoming April 3 General Election. This year’s breakfast will be held on Tuesday, March 27, one week before the election.
This year’s breakfast will feature the candidates running for two open seats on the Cassville School Board. Seven candidates filed to run for those open seats. One seat is currently held by incumbent Carolyn Bowen. John Sullivan held the other seat, however, Sullivan opted not to seek reelection. Terms for school board are three years.
The candidates confirmed to speak at the event are Wade Hermansen, incumbent Carolyn Bowen, Dr. Lisa Roark and Mark Kelley. The other candidates running for the seats have been invited but had not confirmed their attendance at time of press. Those candidates are Steven Henbest, Michael Hagins and Devin Barber.
Each candidate will have the opportunity to answer questions submitted to the Chamber of Commerce prior to the event. The format is not a debate, and candidates will not be fielding questions from the audience.
To submit a question to the Chamber of Commerce for candidates to answer, contact director Brittany Crawford at chamber@cassville.com or (417) 847-2814. The deadline to submit questions is Monday, March 19.
Breakfast and Ballot Issues will be held at the Cassville United Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 27, at 7:30 a.m. A light breakfast will be served, and donations will be accepted to offset the cost of the event.
The Chamber is requesting those interested in attending to RSVP by Wednesday, March 21, by calling or emailing the Chamber.
