Contest on ballot for area school boards
February 10, 2021
Filings closed January 15 for open positions on school boards, road districts and city councils for the April 6 election.
Both the Purdy R-II, Wheaton R-III and Shell Knob school districts will feature contests on the ballot.
Of the two positions up for re-election in Wheaton, current school board member Bobby Banks chose not to re-file for another term.
Incumbent Kevin Schlessman, however, is opting to try to hold on to his seat. He will be opposed by Chris Ray, Meagan McCullah and Timothy Peckham, one of whom will be a shoe-in for the position being vacated by Banks.
In Purdy, incumbents Ken Terry and Reuben Henderson will face opposition from Ms. Kelly Stephens.
In the Southwest R-IV district, incumbents Daniel (Danny) Dalton and Robert Hendrix chose to re-file. There was no opposition for their open seats.
In the Exeter R-VI school district, Ms. Sammy Hudson and Mr. Mitch Sorensen, incumbents, opted to run for another term. There was no opposition.
In the Cassville R-IV district, Wade Hermansen and Steve Henbest re-filed and were re-elected when no one else filed for the open positions.
Four residents have filed for open positions on the Shell Knob school board, including Carla Hartwell, Sandra S. Cupps, Donna Lehr and Robert (Bob) Stewart.
