Cosper named 2019 MoFFACS Teacher of the Year

Samantha Cosper from Cassville R-IV High School has been selected to receive the 2019 Teacher of the Year Distinguished Service Award from Missouri Educators of Family and Consumer Sciences and Human Services (MoEFACS).
The Teacher of the Year award is given to a Missouri FACS teacher for making significant contributions to FACS through curriculum development and/or providing multiple FCCLA opportunities for students.
This is Cosper’s tenth year as Cassville High School as a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher. Prior to that she taught at Southwest R-V school district. She has had several regional and state FCCLA officers including one national officer candidate. Cosper is very active in Missouri ACTE and MoEFACS including chairing several state committees. She has presented at the MoEFACS conference numerous times over the years in Springfield and also presented at the Missouri School Board Association Conference and the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Conference. Cosper is active in MSTA and has served as officer of her local CTA chapter.
Cosper is a leader in both her school and among Family and Consumer Science teachers. Cassville superintendent, Dr. Richard L. Asbill, said of Mrs. Cosper, “She builds student confidence and focuses on key efforts in career pathway readiness. Mrs. Cosper incorporates high levels of technology into her lessons, while also ensuring that individual student’s needs are the priority.” One of Mrs. Cosper’s students, Jossie Guevara, the Regional Office of STAR events, says of Mrs. Cosper, “She has taught me lessons that I will forever cherish and implement into daily life. She has pushed me to my fullest potential.”
Mrs. Samantha Cosper will be recognized July 24, 2019, at the MoEFACS Awards and Recognition Luncheon and Awards Ceremony. In addition to being recognized in July, the Missouri Educators of Family and Consumer Sciences will be forwarding her application on to the Missouri Association of Career & Technical Educators (MoACTE) as well as the National Association of Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences (NATFACS), where she will be competing for the Teacher of the Year, Distinguished Service Award there as well.
