Cottage at Roaring River State Park to be nominated for National Register July 14

The circa 1920 summer cottage, located at Roaring River State Park, will be nominated for the National Register July 14.
Missouri State Parks has announced that the Missouri Advisory Council on Historic Preservation will consider nominations to the National Register of Historic Places during its quarterly meeting Friday, July 14, at 10 a.m. at the Lewis and Clark State Office Building in Jefferson City. Remote participation will be available.
The remaining one-story, frame, rustic style cottage, which sits on a privately owned 50' x 100' wooded tract surrounded by Roaring River State Park, seven miles south of Cassville, is one of three nominations to be presented to the Council. The circa 1920 summer cottage was built for Roaring River Camps and Hotel, the private resort that preceded the State Park.

The Missouri Advisory Council on Historic Preservation is a group of historians, architects, archaeologists, and citizens interested in historic preservation.
The governor appoints the Council and works with the Department of Natural Resources State Historic Preservation Office, which administers Missouri's National Register of Historic Places program.
The Council meets quarterly to review Missouri property nominations to the national register, the nation's honor roll of historic properties. Approved nominations are forwarded to the Keeper of the National Register in Washington, D.C., for final approval.
