Cox Monett welcomes new surgeon

Cox Monett Hospital is pleased to welcome board-certified general surgeon Dr. Ali Amro to its medical team.
Dr. Amro will serve patients at Cox Monett through a wide variety of general surgical procedures.
“I decided to join CoxHealth because I will be able to work broadly and use my skills to their utmost potential,” says Dr. Amro. “I thought it would be an enjoyable and challenging work environment working at both facilities.”
Originally from Lebanon, Dr. Amro attended medical school in his home country, then came to the United States to complete his general surgery residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Mich. He went on to complete a surgical critical care fellowship at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago, Ill., where he was further able to enhance his skills in taking care of critically ill patients.
“I became a physician because I find it very rewarding to help people,” he says. “I wanted to do something that utilized both technical skills and knowledge to provide the best outcome for the patient.”
Dr. Amro, who recently moved to Monett, is seeing patients at CoxHealth Surgery Monett, located inside the CoxHealth Monett Clinic, 1000 E. Hwy. 60 in Monett. He said he finds the people here to be very friendly and the design of the new Cox Monett hospital to be phenomenal. He credits the design team for making the layout of the facility very conducive to getting from the clinic to the Surgery Department very quickly.
“I want to make a difference in the lives of my patients, and I feel that I have an opportunity to do that here,” he said. “I plan to serve the people of this community to the best of my abilities.”
In addition to his duties at Cox Monett, Dr. Amro serves as a trauma physician at Cox South when needed. In his spare time, Dr. Amro is a big science-fiction fan who loves to read books and watch movies in that genre. He also enjoys hiking and being outdoors.
