Crayons, paper and pencils, school is right around the corner
Southwest R-V School District students will return for classes on Thursday, August 8. In the meantime, the teachers of Southwest are hard at work putting their rooms in order and preparing for a new year. It's that time of year again. Back-to-school is just around the corner, and area schools released their open house and start dates along with important information about heading back to school.
Cassville
Cassville R-IV School District's first day of school is Wednesday, August 14.
Middle school students (sixth, seventh and eighth grades) can pick up their locker assignments and schedules on Wednesday, August 7, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to p.m. and Thursday, August 8, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Stop, Drop and Go will be on Monday, August 12, at the elementary, intermediate and middle schools.
Freshman orientation will be held in the high school gym on Monday, August 12, at 6 p.m.
Exeter
Exeter R-IV will have the annual back to school night on Monday, August 12, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The athletic parent meeting will be before at 5 p.m. During the back to school night, the Exeter FFA will grill hot dogs and hamburgers for the community. Students will be able to pick up schedules, meet teachers and drop off school supplies, as well. The back to school night is for preschool students through seniors.
The first day of school for the Exeter Tigers is Tuesday, August 13.
Monett
Monett R-I School District is headed back to school with open houses kicking off this week.
Open houses are on Thursday, August 8, at varying times. Monett Elementary will be from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monett Central Park is from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monett Intermediate is from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monett Middle School is from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monett High School is from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Monett's first day of school is Tuesday, August 13.
Purdy
Purdy R-II's back to school is in full swing. The school's district-wide open house, preschool through seniors, will be held on Thursday, August 8, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will also be fall photos in the high school gym during the open house. Information about photos and pricing is available on the district's Facebook page.
Purdy's first day of school this year is Tuesday, August 13. The east doors will open at 7:30 a.m. and bus routes will remain the same as last year.
Shell Knob
Shell Knob District #78 will kick off school on Thursday, August 15, with an open house from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Hot dogs will be served to families in attendance.
Shell Knob's first day of school is Tuesday, August 20.
Southwest

Wheaton
The Wheaton R-III School District is kicking off back to school with a district-wide open house on Monday, August 12, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Junior and senior high students can pick up their Chromebooks for the year during the open house.
The first day of class for Wheaton Schools is Tuesday, August 13.
