Each month, Cub Scouts 76 are involved in a project to benefit their community, and this month, the Scouts are collecting food for the Cassville Pantry.
Barry County and similarly disadvantaged rural communities commonly include a population who cannot reliably afford food, for themselves or their children. Fundraisers and food drives such as these directly help members of our own community who are suffering due to economic circumstances out of their control.
To donate, please drop off all food items at 16062 State Highway 76, Cassville, MO.
Lainey Harvick, a spokesperson for the Cub Scouts, stated that this is one of the many ways the Cub Scouts “are actively involved in our community. This is their commitment to the community. They learn communication skills in asking for donations, how to help others, and create a positive impact - great assets and skills to take into adulthood. My family is the most important thing in my life, and my role as a parent is to make my children feel loved and teach them valuable life skills. As a parent, I seek out opportunities to help build my kids’ sense of confidence, social skills, and discipline. Cub Scouts has provided amazing opportunities to build on those skills for my kids and create friendships.”
Cub 76 will begin to issue flyers and work with neighborhoods to coordinate donations and pickup dates. In addition, Harvick Farms is collecting canned food items to contribute to the overall goal of Scouting for Food.
