Access Family Care in Cassville will soon have a new staff member. Michael Fast, a dentist with 31 years of experience, will be coming to the clinic and will begin seeing patients there on Jan. 27.
Fast said he decided to work for Access because he strongly agrees with the clinic’s values. “I am coming to Cassville,” he said, “because I have the opportunity to make a difference in dentistry, and I believe in Access Family Clinic’s mission statement which is very close to mine.”
Originally from Columbia, Fast’s family moved to Phoenix, Ariz., when he was very young. He grew up in Phoenix and graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in biology and then went to the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. After graduation, he went to Baton Rouge, La., where he practiced dentistry in group practices before starting his own practice in Mississippi.
After 18 years, Fast sold his practice in Columbia and retired. A year later, however, he moved back to Arizona and returned to working in a group practice. He remained there for four years before moving to his current home in Fayetteville, Ark.
At about the same time Fast graduated from dental school, he married his wife, Lori, who owns The Mustache Goods and Wears, a clothing retail store in Bentonville, Ark. They also have five children: Ashley, who lives in Fayetteville with her husband Brian and is a business owner; Jayme Hall, who lives in Portland, Ore. with her husband Chris; Matt, a professional golfer who lives in West Point, Mississippi; Lauren Abraham, who also lives in Portland with her husband John and is the mother of Fast’s only grandchild, Curran, 1; and Avery, who is a senior in high school. Also in the family is Bo, a five-year old golden retriever who Fast says, “puts up with all my talking and agrees with me all of the time.”
Fast’s favorite part of being a dentist is being able to help the people he works with. “I enjoy talking and relating to my patients,” he said, “and finding out how I can help them. My goal is to assist each person entrusted to my care to enjoy the fullest gift of health possible, and to work with others to build a community where people feel there is hope in the future.”
In his spare time, Fast enjoys hiking, playing golf and watching sports.
