A father and son accused of burglarizing their own Eagle Rock neighborhood were arrested last week after an investigation by the Barry County Sheriff’s Department.
John Daniel Wilson, 27, of Eagle Rock, was arrested for four different burglaries that took place between May and June from the neighborhood where he lives. His father, Jimmy John Wilson, 57, of Eagle Rock, was arrested shortly after and charged with receiving stolen property.
According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Department, there were multiple reports of burglaries from the same neighborhood on Farm Road 1209. Each of them had their homes broken into while they were away, and the items stolen were valued at over $10,000 in all.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, items stolen included a cordless drill, tool box, tools, knives, a leaf blower, a power washer, flat screen tv’s, wakeboards, air compressor and multiple firearms. During the investigation, officers found many of the stolen items had been pawned under John Wilson’s name. When Sheriff Mick Epperly and Deputies Randy Kalbaugh and Carl Cosper went to the Wilsons’ address with a warrant for John’s arrest, he admitted that he had committed the burglaries.
Barry County Prosecuting Attorney Amy Boxx filed charges against Wilson on four separate cases pertaining to each of the individual homes burglarized. He is being charged with four counts of burglary in the second degree, four counts of stealing and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm. Wilson is currently being held in the Barry County Jail in lieu of a $80,000 cash-only bond. His bond was set at $20,000 for each case.
After charges were filed against John, his father was also charged when an informant told the Barry County Sheriff’s Department that he had purchased an air compressor and power washer from Jimmy and John on May 15 for $250. When he had written the check, he left the to line blank, and when it was cashed, Jimmy’s name was written on it.
Jimmy bonded out of jail on Monday after posting a $20,000 bond on his receiving stolen property charge.
