Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder honored Barry County Sheriff Mick Epperly on Tuesday with a plaque and words of praise for Sheriff Epperly’s 20 years of service. Sheriff Epperly was first elected in 1996 and re-elected four times, making him the longest serving sheriff in Barry County history.
Epperly has always been known as a “working sheriff,” helping his fellow officers and detectives in investigations, pursuits and arrests. He will be the first on the scene of search and rescue missions and work tirelessly until the missing are found. He has served as director of the Southwest Missouri Drug Task Force, Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force, MSSU Law Enforcement Training Committee, Barry County 911, Missouri Sheriff’s Association, Child Advocacy Center and Ozarks Drug Enforcement Team. He has worked every homicide case that the Sheriff’s office has been involved in, including three homicides within one month of his first term.
Sheriff Epperly’s efforts and dedication has made Barry County a safer place.
