Face Covers Required for
Springfield Airport Customers & Employees

To make the Springfield Airport as safe and clean as possible, effective Thursday morning, July 16, all terminal visitors and employees are required to wear face-covers, as recommended by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), and now mandated by Springfield City Council at its Monday meeting.
Besides requiring face covers, the following has already been done to make air travel at the Springfield Airport as safe and clean as possible:
• Airport custodial staff is deep cleaning the terminal at all times.
• Hand sanitizing stations are located at strategic locations throughout terminal.
• Sneeze guards are on airline and rental car counters.
• Social distancing messages are on terminal video screens and public address system.
• Social distancing floor markers are in terminal.
• TSA staff are wearing face covers, gloves, and face shields at the security checkpoint.
• Staff is cleaning gray bins after every use.
• All airlines require customers to wear face covers on aircraft.
• Airlines are deep cleaning aircraft.
• The gift store has face covers for sale (in case customers forgot to bring one).
• Restaurant workers have their temperature taken every day; they wear face covers at all times; and continually clean counters.
• TSA allows customers to bring liquid hand sanitizer containers up to 12 oz in their carry-on bags. Other liquids, gels and aerosols are still limited to 3.4 oz.
For those who must travel, the airport recommends the following:
• Don’t fly if you’re sick!
• Wear a face cover.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
• When possible, maintain at least six feet of social distance between others.
Remember — if you must fly, be safe!
