Filing dates change for April election
September 29, 2021
According to Barry County Clerk, Joyce Ennis, filing dates for the April 5, 2022, General Municipal Election have changed.
Candidates may begin filing on Tuesday, December 7, 2021. The last day to file will be Tuesday, December 28, 2021.
These changes, Ennis says, are due to legislation passed in August of 2021. The shorter filing time will give the Department of Revenue more time to review the “Candidate’s Affidavit of Tax Payments and Bonding Requirements,” and investigate any complaints prior to the election.
“In years past, candidates had 26 days in which to file; the new legislation will now only allow 16 days for filing,” Ennis said.
