Cassville Chamber of Commerce Director, Rachael Selby, is pleased with the turnout for the Chamber’s inaugural Trout Fest, held Saturday, August 15, at Cassville’s Aquatic Park.
According to Selby, 40 vendors were on hand for the event, including six purveyors of food and beverages.
Kona Ice treats and free swimming in the YMCA pool were a big draw on the seasonably hot day.
“We had 222 swimmers during pool hours,” Selby said.
The morning started off with a Trout Trot 5K and Minnow Mile sponsored by Freedom Bank.
In conjunction with Kids Fishing Day at Roaring River State Park, the Cassville Chamber gave away 40 kids’ fishing poles at their booth.
“Big Wheels” fire trucks and emergency vehicles were on hand for viewing in a designated area, and demos by Missouri State Parks, Wonders of Wildlife and Dutch Oven cooking specialist, Dr. Larry Quinalty, continued throughout the day.
Musical performances by Hailey Jane, Night Work, Ahna Jennings and Tim Nowell also added flair to the event.
“For the first event, we were pleased,” Selby said. “We saw things we’ll change or add for next year, but we do plan to do it again.”
