Linda Knisley, of Shell Knob, began the new year as a retired person.
After moving here from Pennsylvania with her husband, she went to work at Freedom Bank in Cassville, where she has been an employee for the last 13 years.
Since her husband passed away seven years ago, Knisley said retirement will look a bit different than it otherwise might have, but she plans to put her time to constructive use.
“I like to paint,” Knisley said. “Tole painting is my favorite. I started doing it several years ago after taking some classes.”
Knisley said she typically paints on wood, but paints on other surfaces as well.
“I really like painting holiday decor,” she said. “I’ve made several gifts for family and friends. This past Christmas I painted porch-sitters (decorative boards to prop or sit on front porches) with snowmen and other winter themes.”
Knisley began participating in craft shows in the Shell Knob area a few years ago, but is setting her sights on a booth at Apple Butter Makin’ Days in Mt. Vernon this year, COVID restrictions permitting.
