Health department reports COVID-19 death

On their February 9 situational update, the Barry County Health Department is reporting the death of a 61-year-old-plus male, due to complications of COVID-19, bringing Barry County’s total of COVID-related deaths to 49. The gentleman’s death is the first reported death due to COVID-19 in the past two weeks.
The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county now stands at 2,983. Of those, 2,859 have recovered, eight are hospitalized, 75 are in isolation with active cases and over 200 people are in quarantine.
The county’s overall positivity rate since tracking began stands at 13.5 percent, but the positivity rate for the past week has fallen to 3.8 percent.
