Kansas man jailed for October drunk driving crash

December 7, 2016
Charlea Estes

A Clearwater, Kan., man is in jail after causing a wreck on September 28 that severely injured the other driver. Patrick Alan Jordan, 28, was currently in the Barry County Jail in lieu of a $20,000 cash-only bond for the crash that injured a Verona man.
According to the affidavits of probable cause, Jordan was driving a Mazda on US 60 when he attempted to make a U-turn. Another car attempted to brake, but was unable to and struck the Mazda.
When Missouri State Troopers arrived on scene, the driver in the other car identified herself. However, once she was on a backboard and being loaded into the ambulance, she told officers she was not driving, but she was afraid to tell the truth because Jordan was an “angry person.” Once questioned, Jordan admitted he was driving the vehicle but did not want officers to know because he had been drinking. He was above the legal limit according to the Breathalyzer.
The driver of the other car, a Verona man, had to be extracted from his vehicle and was transported to a Springfield hospital for serious injuries. The driver had to have a titanium rod put in his leg due to injuries sustained in the crash after being in ICU.
Barry County Prosecuting Attorney Amy Boxx filed charges against Jordan for two counts of assault in the second degree - operating a vehicle while intoxicated, causing injuries, one count of operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner causing an accident, operating a motor vehicle without maintaining financial responsibility and operating a motor vehicle on a highway without a valid license.
Jordan was finally booked into the Barry County Jail on December 6 after being arrested by Sedgwick County, Ark., officers.
