Cassville High School soccer player, Peter Littlefield, has broken the Missouri state record for career saves by a goalkeeper. After the fall 2021 season, he has registered 785 saves, breaking the previous record by 100.
The previous record was 685 saves and was held by Wade Brown from Waynesville. Brown played soccer from 1989-1991.
Peter is currently second in state history with 11.89 average saves per game.
"Pete is a hard-working kid, a vocal leader, and a captain for our team," said Jake Forste, CHS Head Soccer Coach. "He has made countless big saves for us, even stopping half of the penalty kicks he faced this year. He was our Defensive Player of the Year in 2021."
Littlefield is a junior at CHS and is the son of John and Sheila Littlefield of Exeter.
"As good as Peter has been these last three years, I still think his best soccer is ahead of him--as hard as that is to believe. He has improved each year, especially with his leadership and foot skill. I'm excited to see what the future holds for him. If he wants to play soccer at the next level, I am confident there will be opportunities for him to do so," said Forste.
