Jim Litzsinger was recognized at last year’s Shell Knob Shriners Christmas Party as Shriner of the Year for 2020 in the southwest region. Jim has been a member of the Shell Knob Club for nearly twenty years and has served as Rajah last year and this year. This award is given only occasionally and honors those Shriners who have made significant contributions to the organization’s goals and charitable functions.
The Shell Knob Shriners hold several events each year to raise money for the Shriners Hospitals. The network of twenty-two non-profit medical facilities across North America provides treatment for children with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, cleft lip, cleft palate and craniofacial abnormalities. Services and care are provided in a family-centered environment regardless of the ability to pay.
Litzsinger is proud of the funds the Shell Knob Shriners and the Shrine Ladies have raised for this cause through their events like the annual Shriners Bass Tournament, Poker Run, Duck Race and Golf Tournament. Over the years, these activities have raised thousands of dollars for the Shrine Hospitals.
Jim was surprised when he was recognized by Potentate David Porterfield at the Christmas event. For his commitment to the Club and their charitable causes, he received a necklace which he can proudly wear. In his quietly strong manner, Litzsinger places the honor for this award on his fellow Shriners and the Shell Knob Club.
He says, “When I place this necklace around my neck, I share its meaning with my fellow Shrine brothers and ladies. We could not have achieved our success without their support and hard work.”
