Man injured making a U-turn in Monett

A Monett man was seriously injured when he made a U-turn on Missouri 37 near Monett and was hit by another vehicle. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, the Saturday afternoon, June 9, wreck resulted in serious injuries for one of the drivers.
Jimmy D. Hufft, 68, of Monett, was driving a 2004 Honda Accord northbound on Missouri 37 about two miles south of Monett when he made a U-turn around 3:10 p.m. Hufft was then hit by a 2007 Dodge 3500 pickup, driven by Christian O. Barrera Alvarado, 22, of Monett.
Hufft was seriously injured and taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Barrera Alvarado had no reported injuries.
It is unknown if Hufft was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Barrera Alvarado was wearing a seatbelt.
The Accord was totaled, and the pickup sustained moderate damage. Both were towed from the scene by Thomas Towing.
