Marple, Yarnall take school board seats

Charlea Estes In the Cassville R-IV School board race, Chad Yarnall and Jeremy Marple were voted in by Cassville district voters in Tuesday’s election. Marple and Yarnall were two of four running for the seats left by Greg Allen and Hal Smith who did not seek reelection. Marple finished first with 769 votes, Yarnall second with 695, Gamon Sparkman came in third with 535 votes and Doyne “Damon” Brown finished last with 175 votes. Marple said, “I was very pleased and humbled by the turn out and number of votes. I’m ready to get in with the other members and get to work.” Regarding his second place finish, Chad Yarnall said, “Mainly I’m honored and humbled by the support from the community to be elected to the school board.” When asked what their priorities will be when they are sworn in at the April 14 meeting, Marple said, “The first priority is to get in and work with the other members and understand procedure and ask questions when they need to be asked. We have to have priority with the teachers and the students.” Yarnall said, “My priorities are to do the best job to make sure Cassville School is the best school it can be for the children and be there for any of the teachers and faculty. I just want to make sure that the kids are getting the best education they can get and our teachers are feeling appreciated. Good people make good schools.” |
