Master Gardeners to hold free gardening workshop
August 28, 2019
The Barry County Master Gardeners will hold a free gardening workshop for community members on Saturday, September 7, located at the Cassville Library. The workshop will be held in the lower level meeting room in the library from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Since space is limited, please preregister through the Barry County Extension Office by calling (417) 847-3161 or emailing [email protected] to reserve a spot.
With education being the primary goal of the Master Gardener program, they hope to pass on the knowledge by offering this workshop free of change. The Master Gardener program is fortunate to have both Kathryn Kufahl and Oscar Cross, two very knowledgeable and experienced presenters, to speak at this gathering and answer questions for the public.
Kathryn Kufahl, Master Gardener Emeritus, will present on the topic of Perennials for Fall Planting, perfect for anyone who is wanting to set in bulbs this fall. Kathryn has expertise on perennial plants and shrubs for landscape gardening, which will allow her to answer a wide range of topics. Kathryn is often a guest on Branson radio station KRZK where she presents information on gardening and takes questions from the public. Kathryn not only stays busy by growing a variety of plants in her own garden, but she also puts in many hours volunteering for master gardener projects at many locations where she shares her firsthand knowledge of plants suitable for growing in the Ozark landscape. Many will remember Kathryn as the Master Gardeners’ guest speaker for the first workshop three years ago.
Oscar Cross, who many might remember was a fun and knowledgeable speaker from last fall’s workshop, will join them once more to present information on how to Create Gardens in Raised Beds. Oscar comes from deep roots in the gardening world with family-owned Hilltop Farm in Ash Grove where many Missourians spend time wandering and purchasing plants in the spring. Hilltop Farms is known for offering a large variety of plants, including many new varieties unseen typically in the nursery business. Oscar and his wife, Amy, together are a fountain of knowledge relating to a vast gardening questions to both the beginner gardener to the expert. Oscar and Amy will also join the group for four Saturdays in late November and December to help with poinsettias and houseplants for the cold seasons ahead.
Please preregister to hear the great speakers today.
